PSAT registration help!

Quick question - I want to take the PSAT this year but I have no idea how the registration process works. Can someone here share their PSAT registration experience? Thanks in advance!

Happy to help you understand the PSAT registration process! Generally speaking, registration for the PSAT isn't done directly by the students, but rather through your high school. You can't register for the PSAT online or by mail unlike the SAT, your high school will handle all of that.

First, you should reach out to your guidance counselor or someone in your school's administration team to inquire if and when your school is offering the PSAT. Schools usually administer the PSAT in October, so it's a good idea to ask about registration in the late spring or early fall.

Once your school has sorted out the details, they will most likely distribute sign-up information and materials to students, typically in the form of a sign-up sheet or online form to fill out. You may be required to pay a fee to take the PSAT, though not all schools require this. The fee for the PSAT is usually quite affordable (approximately $18) but will vary depending on the school.

Once you're registered, your school will provide you with further information about where and when to show up to take the test. Do remember to prepare for the testing day by getting a good night’s sleep, and bringing the necessary materials like pencils, erasers, and a calculator.

If your school doesn't administer the PSAT, you can still take it at another school nearby. You'd have to reach out to nearby schools to see if they would allow you to take the test there.

Remember, your school or testing center is your primary source of official information for PSAT registration. So, do reach out to them with your queries. Good luck with the PSAT!
