Columbia University's Sat score expectations?

Hi everyone, I'm a junior aiming high and one of my top choices is Columbia University. But I'm getting a bit anxious about my SAT score. Does anyone know what the typical SAT score is for students admitted to Columbia? Also, does anyone have any tips to improve my score before the next test? Any insights will help a lot.

Columbia University is one of the most selective schools in the country, and thus has high expectations for SAT scores. The most recent data shows that the middle 50% of accepted students at Columbia have an SAT score between 1500-1560, so you'll indeed want to aim high.

It is worth noting that Columbia is officially test-optional, so you actually are not required to submit an SAT (or ACT) score. However, you're smart to still be thinking about target SAT scores, as at such a selective school, you generally want to showcase your strengths in as many ways as possible. Thus, for many students, submitting a test score is still a good idea, even though doing so is not required.

Now, some tips for improving your SAT performance. Aim to establish a regular study schedule, because consistency will help you absorb the material better. Practice tests are an invaluable tool to prepare, so you might want to utilize resources like the Bluebook™ app, which allows you to preview the fully digital SAT, and take a full-length practice test. They can help you understand your weaknesses and get comfortable with the test format.

As you review your practice test performance, spend more time on the areas that you struggled with. You can supplement your studies with flashcards for vocabulary, apps for math problems, and reading more complex texts to improve your reading comprehension. Keep pushing, and best of luck with your preparation!
