What is a CEEB code for high schools?

Hi everyone, I was filling out my college application and it asked for a 'CEEB code' for my high school. I have no clue what this is. Could someone explain? Thanks in advance.

The CEEB code, also known as College Entrance Examination Board code, is a unique identifier assigned to high schools and colleges by the College Board. Generally, this code is used by colleges, standardized testing companies such as the College Board and ACT, and scholarship programs to document and organize school information.

In a college application, this code is used to identify the specific high school from which a student graduated, to ensure that transcripts, test scores, and other relevant information are associated with the right student's application.

Each school is assigned a unique CEEB code, which is often listed on your high school transcript. If you're unsure of your school's CEEB code, you can find it either by asking your school's guidance counselor or by searching for it in the High School Code Search feature on the College Board website: https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/k12-educators/tools-resources/k12-school-code-search

If your high school doesn't have a CEEB code (if you're homeschooled, say), there is a generic homeschooled CEEB code that can be used: 970000. I hope this information clears up your confusion!
