What Should I Bring for My SAT Test?

Hello, all. I'm taking the SAT soon and want to make sure I'm well-prepared on the day of the test. Apart from pencils and erasers, is there anything else I should bring?

Absolutely, there are a few other things that you'll want to bring to the SAT administration site.

First, remember to bring your admission ticket. You'll be able to print this off from your online SAT account after you register for the test. This ticket is really important; without it, you will not be allowed into the testing center.

Don't forget an acceptable form of photo ID, too. This could be your driver's license, your school ID, or a valid passport. Make sure that the name on your ID exactly matches the name you used to register for the SAT, and that the photograph is clear and easily recognizable.

Even though the SAT went fully digital as of spring 2024, you may find that bringing a couple of backup pencils is helpful in case you want to jot down notes or make quick computations during the test.

Next, you'll want to bring a permitted calculator. Keep in mind that both of the Math Modules on the SAT allow calculator use. You'll save precious time by using it for some of the more complex problems. Be aware that not all calculators are allowed at the SAT; most graphing calculators, all scientific calculators, and all four-function calculators are permitted, but there are restrictions on other types, like calculators with QWERTY keyboards.

Lastly, it's a good idea to bring a snack and a bottle of water for your breaks to keep your energy levels stable, and perhaps a watch (without an audible alarm) to help you manage your time.

Prepare all these things in advance so you aren't rushing around on the morning of your test. Best of luck!
