Criteria for good Art Universities?

Sup everyone? So I've started looking at Art Universities and I'm not sure which factors to take into consideration. What should I look for in a 'good' art university? Anything specific?

Hey there! When you're considering art universities, there are a few important factors you should keep in mind. I'll break them down for you:

1. Programs/Concentration: This is pretty important. Make sure the university offers the specific type of art program you're interested in, e.g., painting, sculpture, digital art, etc.

2. Faculty: Look into who the professors are, their specialties, their works, and their reputations in the art field.

3. Facilities: Quality art schools should have plenty of studio space, the latest technology, and a range of resources available for students to use.

4. Internship/Work Opportunities: Many art schools have partnerships with local galleries, museums, or companies and can offer internships, work-study, and job opportunities, which will be valuable for your hands-on experience and future career.

5. Alumni Success: Look at the success rate of students after they graduate, their job placements, and if they're active in their field. This metric will give you a general idea about the reputation and effectiveness of the university's program.

6. Exhibit Opportunities: An excellent art program will provide plenty of opportunities for students to showcase their work, in student exhibitions and in the community.

7. Community/Culture: Since art is often collaborative, having a tight-knit, supportive community helps. Look for schools where students participate in collaboration and feedback sessions.

8. Location: Consider if you will have access to galleries, museums, or interesting places for inspiration.

Remember, the "best" university will depend on your personal needs and goals. Visiting campus, reaching out to current students or faculty, or attending art shows hosted by the schools can provide a 'feel' for the environment and help you in your decision. Good luck!
