Unsure About Mount Union?

Hey guys, I was hoping you could help me out. I've been thinking about applying to the University of Mount Union but, I'm not entirely sure about their admissions process. Could anyone provide insight on what requirements they look for or tips for the application process?

When it comes to the University of Mount Union, there are a couple of significant aspects to note in regards to their admission process.

Firstly, the university operates on a rolling admissions basis - this means you can apply at any time and hear back within a few weeks. This flexible timeline can make this a great option for students looking for less stress over strict deadlines.

As for admission requirements, they primarily consider high school academic performance, and extracurricular involvement. They want to see a competitive GPA and a strong high school curriculum. Mount Union recommends that applicants complete a college preparatory curriculum that includes four years each of English and mathematics, three years each of natural science and social studies, and two years of a foreign language.

As is the case with many universities, extracurricular involvement is also valued. Quality is more important than quantity, though. They want to see that you've been actively involved and have made an impact in your activities, so be sure to highlight any leadership positions or tangible achievements.

As for tests, University of Mount Union is test-optional, meaning you don't have to submit SAT or ACT scores if you feel they don't accurately represent your academic potential. If you do choose to submit scores, they'll be considered alongside other aspects of your application.

There's no application fee for Mount Union and they accept both the Common App and their own application.

The essay is also a significant part of the application. Be candid and personal. This is your chance to showcase who you are beyond your grades and test scores. Avoid cliche topics and instead opt for an account of a specific experience or something about yourself that isn’t apparent elsewhere in your application. Show them how you'd add value to their community!

Mount Union also values letters of recommendation from a teacher or counselor who can speak to your academic abilities and character.

Remember that all applications are unique and what works for one might not work for another. The key is to be authentic and let your true self shine through your application. Good luck!
