What kind of GPA does Georgia State want?

Hi there, I'm starting to look at colleges and Georgia State is on my list. Can anyone out there tell me what's the average GPA they look for? I'm working hard to keep my grades up, but I want to make sure it's in the ballpark cause there's some competition in my school. Thanks!

Accepted students at Georgia State University usually have a GPA around 3.6, so being around there, with a mix of mainly A- and B+ grades on your transcript, would be advantageous.

GSU does look beyond GPA, though. They evaluate your course rigor, your involvement in extracurricular activities, and potentially your test scores (SAT or ACT) if you choose to submit them (GSU is officially test-optional, although they do recommend you submit test scores). So while a high GPA is a good starting point, make sure your strengths come across in the other areas of your application as well.

If you want to know how your application as a whole stacks up at GSU, I'd check out CollegeVine's free chancing engine, which accounts for all quantifiable elements of your application, including GPA, course rigor, test scores (if you have them), and extracurriculars to give you personalized odds of acceptance at GSU and hundreds of other colleges: https://www.collegevine.com/admissions-calculator

This tool will also give you suggestions on how to improve your chances, whether by raising your GPA slightly or some other step, like earning a leadership position in one of your extracurriculars. Good luck with everything!
