No GED but got College Credits. Does it work for Military?

Didn't get my high school diploma, but I managed to get some college credits. In a bit of a twist now and considering the military. Could I still enlist with this academic background?

Yes, the military generally accepts enlistees without high school diplomas if they have a certain amount of college credit. The exact number of credits required can vary by branch. For example, in the Army, you would typically need a minimum of 15 semester hours (approximately five courses) of college credit to enlist as a high school dropout.

That being said, it's important to highlight that requirements can change based on needs and policies. For example, during times when there's a high demand for enlistees, the military might be more lenient with educational requirements. On the other hand, in periods when many people are trying to enlist, the military can afford to be more selective.

Also, keep in mind that each branch of the military has its own specific requirements not just for education, but also for age, health, and criminal history. Be sure to carefully review the qualifications for any branch you're considering and consult with a local recruiter to get the most accurate and updated information.

For what it is worth: If attaining some additional educational qualifications (like a GED) is a feasible option for you, it might be worth considering. It could potentially open up more opportunities for you in the military and provide a broader range of options in your future career.

In the end, enlisting in the military can be a significant decision. Make sure you think about your options carefully and get as much information as you can before choosing your course of action. Good luck with your decision!
