Can Anyone Share a Dartmouth Peer Evaluation Example?

Dartmouth's unique requirement for a peer recommendation letter has me curious. Does anyone have an example of an effective Dartmouth peer evaluation that they could share, or advice on what exactly makes a peer evaluation stand out?

While specific examples of peer evaluations can't be shared due to privacy reasons, I can certainly share some pointers on what can make these recommendations impactful.

1. Uniqueness: The peer recommendation should provide the admissions committee with a distinctive perspective. As a friend, your recommender can shine light on your personality traits or anecdotes that have not been highlighted elsewhere in your application.

2. Anecdote-driven: The recommendation should ideally include personal stories or experiences that demonstrate your qualities. If your friend can talk about a scene where your leadership, creativity, or problem-solving skills were evident, it would build a strong and believable narrative.

3. Authenticity: The letter should feel genuine and warm - a true reflection of your relationship with your peer. A contrived letter, filled with generic compliments does more harm than good.

4. Consistency: While offering new perspectives, the recommendation should also be in line with the rest of your application to maintain consistency. Any claim made in this recommendation should align with and reinforce the image you've presented in your application.

5. Focus on your relationship: Lastly, the recommendation should focus on the nature of your relationship. The more in-depth knowledge your peer can show of you, the more convincing their letter will be. A very close friend can often provide more compelling insights than a casual acquaintance.

Hope this helps you and your peer in composing an effective recommendation letter!
