What does the average ACT score look like for Yale admits?

Hello everyone, Yale has been my dream school for the longest time. Can anyone give me an idea of the average ACT score for students accepted at Yale? Would it be a good idea to retake the exam if I'm a point or two below their average?

Yale University is highly competitive and tends to admit students with high ACT scores. While universities aren't disclosing their admissions statistics as readily as they used to, as per historical data, successful applicants typically have ACT scores in the range of 32 to 36.

Keep in mind that while standardized test scores are an important part of the admissions process for schools like Yale, they are not the only factor. Admissions officers will look at your application holistically, including your high school grades, rigor of coursework, impact and leadership in extracurricular activities, the quality of your essays, and letters of recommendation.

Now, if you're one or two points below the average, should you retake the test? That really depends on the rest of your application. If you feel confident about your GPA, rigor of your classes, extracurriculars, and your essays, then being slightly below the average ACT score might not be a deal-breaker. However, if you think you can improve your score significantly, it might be an option to consider to strengthen your application.

Remember though, consistency is important, so don't retake the exam excessively as it may not reflect well on your application. Prioritize studying effectively over multiple test attempts. Also, always confirm the policies of the school you are applying to - some schools like Yale, require you to submit all scores from all sittings of the ACT.

If you require more specific guidance, reaching out to a school admissions representative can also be a beneficial resource when determining your next steps.
