Why do some students opt for military service right after high school?

Hey guys! So I've been thinking about my options after graduation, and I know college isn't the only path. I've heard of people enlisting right after high school. Any idea why? Like, besides tuition assistance, what kind of opportunities or benefits could military service offer me?
