Is joining the military with a STEM degree helpful?

Hey everyone, I'm currently a junior, and I've been really interested in STEM subjects for most of my high school career. I intend to continue in this field in college as well but, recently, I've also been considering about possibly joining the military post my degree. Does anyone have info or personal experience on how having a STEM degree influences military career prospects?

With a STEM degree, you're potentially opening up more career opportunities within the military. Different branches of the U.S. Military, for example, have numerous roles that would greatly benefit from a STEM background. These could range from technical roles like engineering and cybersecurity to medical research and development.

The Air Force also has a wide array of STEM opportunities, including roles in Cyber Operations, Development Engineer, or Scientist.

Having a STEM degree might also increase your likelihood of being an officer as compared to enlisted service members. Officers are typically in leadership roles and have a college education. An added advantage of joining the military with a degree is you might enter at a higher pay grade.
