Hey there! I totally get your predicament. The Reading section of the SAT can be challenging, but there are some strategies you can use to improve it.

1. Understanding the passage structure: Remember that SAT uses a predictable order for the structure of their reading passages. It includes an introduction, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Understanding this structure can help you locate answers swiftly.

2. Vocab-in-context questions: Often, vocab-in-context questions can be answered without even looking at the passage. The SAT often uses words that have various meanings, and the correct definition is entirely contingent on the context of the sentence. Try to temporarily ignore the answer choices and determine in what context the word is used, it might make the right answer more apparent.

3. Active reading: This involves reading with the intention of fully grasifying the content. It's not just reading—it's engaging with the material, constantly asking yourself what the author is trying to say and why. Question as you read: What is the primary purpose of this paragraph or this sentence?

4. Learning from your mistakes: Once you have attempted practice tests, reflect on your errors. Did you miss the question because you read too fast? Misunderstood the question? Inaccurately interpreted the passage? Identifying patterns in your mistakes makes it easier to avoid them the next time around.

5. Practice, practice, practice: It's the best way to improve! Familiarize yourself with the types of questions the SAT loves to ask. This way, when you sit for the actual exam, you're not surprised by anything. Use resources like the Bluebook™ app to take full-length practice tests. They mimic what you will experience on test day, and they're a great tool to understand your strengths and weaknesses.

6. Manage your time: Remember the structure of the SAT Reading Test: you have 64 minutes for 54 questions, which gives you about 71 seconds per question. Rather than just rushing through, take a few seconds to understand each question before jumping into the answer choices.

Don't get too stressed! Everybody has their own strengths and weaknesses, and it’s perfectly normal to take a little while to get a handle on certain sections of the SAT. Good luck!
