Clearing up University of Texas GPA requirements

Hey y'all, looking into the University of Texas. Has anyone got a bead on what their GPA requirements are? And do they consider weighted GPAs more heavily, or is it the unweighted one they focus on? Any feedback will appreciated.

While the University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin) does not have a specific baseline GPA requirement for admission, it is still fairly competitive. Historically, the average admitted student's GPA has been approximately 3.83, indicating a strong preference for high academic achievement.

It's important to note that UT Austin uses a holistic review process. This means the admissions committee assesses each application as a whole, looking beyond just your grades and standardized test scores at other aspects like your essays, extracurricular activities, and recommendations (optional).

When it comes to the question of weighted vs. unweighted GPA, UT Austin takes both into account, but assigns more importance to your weighted GPA. This is because the weighted GPA better reflects the degree of difficulty of your high school courses, as it takes into account any advanced or honors classes you've taken.

Most successful applicants to UT Austin have taken a rigorous coursework in high school, which typically results in a higher Weighted GPA. In effect, they're recognizing the extra challenge you've taken on by opting for those more demanding courses.

Keep in mind though, every component of your application contributes to the admissions decision, so continue to apply yourself in all areas! Good luck!
