UCLA Requirements for Admission?

Hello everyone, so I'm looking into UCLA and I'm struggling to find specific requirements they have for admissions. Does anyone have accurate recent information?

Hello! I understand that navigating through college requirements can be challenging. UCLA doesn't have strict cutoffs when it comes to GPA or test scores; however, they do provide some guidelines.

To start, UCLA is currently test-blind, which means they do not consider SAT or ACT scores for the 2024-2025 application cycle. That being said, GPA is a significant factor. The middle 50% GPA range for admitted students is typically between 4.18 and 4.31 (weighted, on a 4.0 scale), so aim for at least a 4.18 GPA to be competitive.

Each UC school, including UCLA, is looking for students who have taken a challenging curriculum in high school. This would include multiple AP or IB classes in a variety of subjects depending on what your school offers.

They require 4 years of English, 3 years of mathematics, 2 years of history/social science, 2 years of laboratory science, 2 years of a language other than English, 1 year of visual and performing arts, and 1 year of a college-prep elective.

Aside from academics, UCLA values extracurricular involvement. They look for students who've demonstrated leadership and commitment through these activities. Remember, quality is more important than quantity, focus on a few activities and try to get involved by taking on leadership roles or deepening your impact.

Your personal statements also play a vital role. UCLA will want to know about your experiences, challenges, and triumphs in your own words. Try to avoid overly common topics unless you can make them extremely unique or personal to you.

While UCLA doesn't make explicit mention of demonstrated interest in their admissions process, it's always beneficial to gain as deep an understanding as possible of the ins and outs of any school where you are applying. This might not directly impact their decision but could help you in shaping your essays or interview responses if offered one.

Finally, letters of recommendation are not an admission requirement at UCLA, and they only rarely request them as a part of a supplementary review.

Please remember that these are just guidelines, and UCLA uses a holistic process when evaluating applications, meaning they consider all parts of an application together.

Good luck with your application!
