University of North Florida Cost - Need Some Inputs

Hey community, planning to apply to University of North Florida. Can anyone give me a ballpark figure of the overall cost? Scholarships and grants I could maximize perhaps?

At the University of North Florida (UNF), undergraduate tuition and fees for Florida residents is about $6,390 for the 2024-2025 academic year, while out-of-state residents pay approximately $20,790. Given that the average room and board cost is about $11,810, you'd be looking at a cost of about $18,200 to $32,600 per year without considering other expenses like books, supplies, transportation, and personal expenses.

As for scholarships and grants, UNF offers various opportunities. For instance, the UNF Merit-based scholarships which are awarded to first-year students on the basis of their academic achievements. Among these, the President's Platinum Scholarship offers $5,000 per year to Florida residents, and the President's Gold offers $4,000 per year. No separate application is required for these scholarships.

Need-based grants are also offered, which are awarded based on your family's financial situation as determined by the FAFSA. The amount varies depending on a number of factors including academic performance and financial need.

Additionally, Florida residents should look into the Bright Futures Scholarship Program. It has two award levels that cover either 75% or 100% of tuition at public institutions in Florida based on high school GPA, course rigor, and ACT/SAT scores.

Remember, every student's financial situation and package would look different, so it's a good idea to complete your FAFSA as early as possible and speak directly with UNF's financial aid office to get the most accurate estimate. They would also be able to provide more information about any department-specific scholarships or grants you might qualify for.
