Hello all! I'm seriously considering applying to Oregon State. Can anyone tell me where exactly it is located in Oregon? Also, any bonus info about life on- and off-campus would be much appreciated!
Oregon State University (OSU) is located in Corvallis, in the heart of the Willamette Valley. Corvallis is roughly 85 miles south of Portland, and it's approximately an hour's drive from the Pacific Ocean to the west. Keep in mind, Corvallis is known for its small-town charm combined with bustling university life.
On-campus life at OSU is robust and engaging. There's a host of clubs and organizations, covering everything from academic interests to various hobbies. OSU also has a solid athletic program and Big Event, a large-scale volunteer service day, is a big hit among students.
Off-campus, Corvallis offers a lot to explore. There’s a thriving downtown area rich in local businesses, eateries, and shops. The Willamette River runs right through town, so there are plenty of opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts like hiking, biking, and kayaking. Farmers markets and the Da Vinci Days science & arts festival are popular community events that students enjoy.
Remember, though, everyone's college experience is unique. You may want to consider a virtual tour or speak to current students or alums to get a firsthand account of life at OSU.
