CT Juniors - Any Insight on Military High Schools?

As a Connecticut junior looking at my options for life after high school, I'm considering the military route. Any of you guys have information on military high schools in CT? Thanks in advance!

There are a few options for military-style education in Connecticut, and I'm glad to hear you're open to exploring different paths for your education!

One well-established institution is the Norwich Free Academy, which offers a Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) program. Participants in this program have the opportunity to develop leadership skills, citizenship, and character through military drills, physical fitness sessions, and related coursework. This might be a good fit if you're interested in a quasi-military environment without the full commitment of a military schooling.

Another choice is the Academy of Aerospace and Engineering, which, although not exactly a military school, provides a solid foundation if you're interested in pursuing a military career specifically in the aviation or engineering fields.

You might also want to look into military boarding schools outside of Connecticut. For instance, Valley Forge Military Academy in Pennsylvania or Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia. They offer rigorous academics combined with military traditions.

However, attending a military high school is not necessarily a prerequisite to pursuing a military career. If you're interested in military service post-high school, another route to consider is one of the service academies, like the U.S. Military Academy (West Point), the Naval Academy, or the Air Force Academy. While extremely competitive, these institutions provide a top-tier education at no cost, in exchange for a commitment to service post-graduation.

Also, you may want to connect with a local military recruiter. They can provide you firsthand, detailed information about all the options and paths without the need to be in a military high school.

I hope this helps, and best of luck as you explore these paths!
