Is Getting a High School Diploma While in Military Possible?

Is it possible for me to finish my high school education while in the military? I'm behind on credits and I'm thinking that this might be a good way for me to finish school. Does anyone have experience or advice on this matter?

Absolutely, pursuing your education while in the military is an achievable goal. In fact, the U.S. military has several programs designed to help its service members finish high school or earn a GED, such as the Army's "March2Success" program which offers free online study materials for various subjects, and the Navy's "Navy College Program" which focuses on vocational training and coursework for enlisted personnel.

The precise method you will use to earn your diploma will depend on your individual circumstances and the specific branch of the military you join. You should keep in mind that your first priority will be to fulfill your military duties, so your coursework will need to be balanced with these responsibilities.

Given that you're currently behind on credits, it might be beneficial for you to consider obtaining a General Educational Development (GED) instead. This is generally considered equivalent to a high school diploma and may be more flexible and achievable given your commitment to the military services.

Remember to consult with your local military recruiter and your school counselor to form a plan best suited to your circumstances. They can provide more concrete direction based on the specifics of your current educational standing and your future military plans. They can go over your options, help you understand how to balance military service and your education, and guide you on how to get the most out of the resources available to you.
