Looking for the biggest universities in the USA

Hey y'all! I'm kinda interested in campuses that are huge, ya know, with a large student body and lots of facilities. What universities in the US would you say are some of the biggest in terms of the number of students enrolled and campus size? Also, how do they manage things like class sizes, housing, and social events? Thanks!

When it comes to having a large student body and extensive facilities, few universities in the U.S. come close to the size of schools such as the University of Central Florida (UCF), Ohio State University (OSU), and Arizona State University (ASU).

UCF, in particular, has the highest enrollment in the United States, with a nearly 70,000-student population. ASU also holds significant numbers with over 50,000 students on its Tempe campus alone. And, OSU boasts a population of about 60,000 students, which adds to its diverse and vibrant student culture.

Now, a significant aspect of large universities managing their massive bodies of students is through dividing them across several campuses and colleges. For example, ASU splits its students across campuses in Tempe, Downtown Phoenix, Polytechnic, and others.

In terms of class sizes, it somewhat depends on the course and year of study. Freshman introductory courses and popular majors can often have larger class sizes, sometimes even exceeding 200 students. However, as students advance in their studies and enter more specialized courses, class sizes typically become much smaller.

Housing at these universities is usually organized by year of study, with priority given to incoming freshman. After the first year, many students move to off-campus housing, which indirectly controls the housing population.

For social events, these universities typically have hundreds of clubs and organizations spanning a vast array of interests, offering many opportunities for students to socialize and engage. They also use effective communication tools like university portals, email newsletters, and social media to notify students of upcoming events and important dates.

However, keep in mind that while there are some benefits to large colleges, such as a larger variety of course offerings, more professors, and more extracurriculars, there might also be downsides. For example, you might feel less of a close-knit community with so many students, and you might have less one-on-one interaction with professors, especially in lower-level classes. Nonetheless, with proactive engagement and utilizing office hours, it's more than possible to have an individualized experience at a large university.
