UPenn's location?

Hello everyone, I'm considering applying to UPenn and was wondering where exactly it's located? Like, what city and what's the area like? Is it more urban or rural? Any feedback would be appreciated!

The University of Pennsylvania, more commonly known as UPenn, is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, specifically in the University City neighborhood. The area certainly gives an urban vibe as it's right in the heart of the city. But what’s unique is that the University City neighborhood has a very college-town feel because there are several other colleges in that area as well, such as Drexel University.

UPenn’s campus provides a mix of Gothic and modern architecture amid green spaces, creating a sense of an urban oasis. Off-campus, you'll have access to all the cultural, historic, and recreational opportunities Philly has to offer, from a rich music scene to immense historical landmarks.

As for safety, like any other urban campus, it’s always wise to stay aware of your surroundings and follow any guidance the university provides about staying safe on and around campus.

Philadelphia itself is one of the largest cities in the U.S., boasting a wide array of cuisines, art scenes, and sporting events. You'll get to have that campus feel while also having the opportunities and amenities of a major city right outside your door. It's certainly quite a contrast to rural campuses and offers a different kind of college experience. Remember, your location can greatly shape your college experience, so considering whether you see yourself in an urban, suburban, or rural setting is a key part of the college selection process.
