Grants for Military Schools

I'm currently a high school junior and I am seriously considering attending a military-focused high school for the remainder of my high school career. I haven't been able to find much information on grants for these schools. Can anyone help?

Sure, happy to help! Funding military-based high schools can be a different process from typical schools, but there are certain resources available.

To begin with, several military high schools in the United States are classified as public schools, meaning tuition is covered by the state. Examples of these include the Texas Military Institute and New Mexico Military Institute. So, if you're a resident of a state with these kinds of schools, that's an avenue to consider.

However, if you're interested in private military schools, these will usually come with tuition fees. One good resource to look into is the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation, which offers scholarships for high-achieving students with financial need and can be used to attend a variety of schools, not just colleges. They consider applications from students in grades 8-12.

Also, it is worth checking whether the specific military school you're interested in has any scholarships or financial aid opportunities. Some, like the Randolph-Macon Academy, offer financial aid packages. You usually need to apply for these directly with the school. It could be very beneficial to reach directly out to them to understand what they offer or how they can help.

Lastly, some military schools will work with families to look for possible VA benefits or military benefits. If you or a family member has served in the military, checking this can provide additional financial support.

I hope that gives you a good starting point. Remember to research thoroughly and to reach out to the admissions or financial aid offices of schools you're interested in for the most accurate information.
