Experience in Roswell New Mexico Military High School

Hi there! My family might be moving to Roswell, New Mexico, and I heard there's a military high school there. Anybody got any input on it? What's the curriculum, environment, and opportunities like?

Roswell is home to the New Mexico Military Institute, which offers both high school and early college programs, so you'd have quite unique opportunities available to you. It is one of the few military institutes in the United States that participates in high school and junior college education.

In terms of academics, the school has a rigorous curriculum that emphasizes STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math). You will find a wide range of both standard and advanced classes, providing students with room for academic growth.

The environment is quite structured because it is a military school. Discipline, responsibility, and leadership are highly valued and nurtured. It's a great place to build these skills and the atmosphere promotes a mutual respect among peers and faculty.

Beyond academics, the school has many extracurricular activities. Sports programs are strong, with various varsity teams. They also offer involvement in clubs spanning from Debate to Robotics to Drama.

For students interested in the military, there's a Junior ROTC program which can support future career paths in this role or provide preparatory skills for potential service academy applications. Furthermore, being a military school, it provides opportunities for developing leadership skills, discipline, and might even help with potential future military academies applications, if that is something you're considering.

Remember, that while a military school can be a great fit for some, it's not for everyone. It requires a high degree of commitment and discipline, so make sure to do thorough research to understand if this would be the right fit for you.
