What to do if you miss an AP exam?

So, I'm super worried about the possibility of missing my AP exam due to unforeseen circumstances. What's the protocol if that happens? Is there a way to arrange a makeup exam, and how does that work? Would appreciate any insights, just to ease my mind a bit. Thanks!

Firstly, it's completely understandable to feel anxious about the possibility of missing an AP exam – these are significant assessments. If an unavoidable issue arises, such as illness or a family emergency, the College Board does have provisions for late testing. Each year, there are set late-testing dates scheduled for each subject. You should inform your AP coordinator at your school as soon as you know that you'll miss your exam. They're the ones who can order and administer the late exam for you.

For this to happen smoothly, there are policies you got to follow, and some circumstances are considered valid reasons for late testing. Examples include acute illness or injury, death in the immediate family, religious observance, or a school-sponsored event. If you're approved for late testing, there might be an additional fee unless your reason falls under specific College Board criteria for the fee to be waived.

Remember, it's crucial to communicate this to your AP coordinator at the earliest opportunity. They're there to help and can guide you through the process. The makeup exams are typically as rigorous as the regular exams, and it's essential to continue preparing so that you're equally ready for the makeup date. Last-minute issues can be nerve-wracking, but there's a structure in place to ensure you can still have the opportunity to take your exam. Good luck, and I hope everything goes smoothly for you!
