Understanding UW Demographics

Hey there, really keen on applying to the University of Washington. But before I go ahead, I kinda want to know about its demographics. Any info about the diversity there, specifically racial and international students?

The University of Washington is known for its diverse student body. Demographics can change slightly from year to year, but as a general trend, UW tends to maintain a balanced and diverse student population.

Approximately 35% of the student body identifies as white, followed by Asian students who make roughly 23%. The percentage of Black students, Hispanic students, and Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander students are lower, falling between 1-9 % respectively.

In terms of international students, UW is also quite global. The school has been regularly ranked as one of the top institutions hosting international students in the U.S. International students at UW typically represent 10%-15% of the total student body, coming from over 100 countries. The largest proportion of international students usually come from China, followed by India, South Korea, Taiwan, and Canada.

Remember, universities are dynamic places and these numbers can change slightly from year to year. Keep in mind that these statistics give a broad sense of the diverse perspectives you might encounter on campus, but knowing the stats won't show you the whole picture of the student body. Consider attending virtual tours or contacting current students or faculty to get a clearer sense of the community and culture there.
