Military High Schools for Girls - Tips and Suggestions?

Hi, I'm seriously thinking about a career in the military after high school. Are there any military high schools near me (I live in Virginia) that are specifically for girls, or ones that have strong programs for girls? Thanks in advance for your help!

There are a variety of military high schools available, but surprisingly, many are indeed coed. It's a great sign you're already thinking about creating a pathway for your military career by attending a military high school!

In Virginia, you may want to consider Randolph-Macon Academy, which is a coed military high school. While it isn't exclusively for girls, they've accepted female students since 1974 and offer a supportive environment for all students. Randolph-Macon is also famous for its Air Force JROTC program, so it might be a fitting choice if you're interested in the Air Force.

Another coed option is Fishburne Military School. Although it was historically an all-boys school, they began admitting girls recently. Although there isn't a long-standing tradition of female attendance, it could still be a worthwhile option depending on your specific interests and goals.

Lastly, the Virginia Women's Institute for Leadership at Mary Baldwin University is an all-female Corps of Cadets, and though it's an undergraduate program and not a high school, it could be a helpful resource for planning your military education pathway.

In all instances, check whether they have strong support systems and mentorship programs for female cadets. You can often find information on school culture and student life on their websites, or you could reach out directly to the school admissions office.

Remember, finding the right military school is about more than just the gender demographics. It's essential to feel comfortable and supported in your environment, so keep in mind your personal goals and career aspirations as you research options.

And lastly, kudos to you for taking this step towards your future. It's a big decision, and it's great you're thinking it thoroughly. I hope this information will help you in your journey towards a military career!
