Could missing an AP exam be a huge problem?

So, I've got AP exams coming up, and, not gonna lie, I'm a little bit paranoid about oversleeping or an emergency popping up. In the worst-case scenario that I miss the exam, how screwed am I? Can I retake it, and if so, how does that process work?

First of all, try not to stress too much—pre-exam jitters are normal, but it's important to stay calm. If you do happen to miss your AP exam, you’ll have an opportunity to take a make-up exam during the late-testing period. Each year, the College Board sets aside specific dates for these late exams, so you'll want to check their schedule and communicate with your school’s AP coordinator as soon as possible to organize this.

Be aware that make-up exams might have different versions of the test, but they’re designed to be just as rigorous as the regular ones. Also, keep in mind that late-testing exams come with an additional fee unless the reason for missing the exam falls under College Board's criteria for fee waivers, such as a medical emergency. Missing an AP exam without a valid excuse could mean waiting until the next year to retake it. Remember to set multiple alarms and have a backup plan for transportation to reduce the risk of missing your test. Good luck!
