Sonoma State Tuition Costs?

Hi everyone! I've been thinking about applying to Sonoma State and have been wondering about their tuition costs. I tried looking on their website but I'm getting a little confused. Can anyone here break down the costs for me? Thank you!

Sonoma State's tuition can vary based on whether you're an in-state or out-of-state student, and whether you're living on campus or commuting.

For residents of California, the undergraduate tuition fee is approximately $8,624 per academic year. If you are from another state, the tuition fee is approximately $21,224 per year.

Additionally, there's also a list of "mandatory fees" which include things like a health services fee, an instructional related activities fee, a campus union fee, and so forth. For the year, these mandatory fees total approximately $1,905.

If you plan on living on campus, the dormitories at Sonoma State range in cost largely depending on which housing option you choose, with prices ranging from around $8,000 to $13,500 per year, not including the meal plan. Meal plans can run anywhere from around $2,800 per year for the basic plan, up to around $4,700 per year for the premium plan.

Keep in mind that these are only the direct costs, and do not include things such as text books, personal expenses, or travel, which can also be significant depending on your situation.

Each student's financial situation is unique and there are several financial aid options available, so these costs can be significantly reduced for many students. It is advised to check out financial aid options on Sonoma State's Financial Aid Office webpage. Please also remember to complete your FAFSA (the Free Application for Federal Student Aid), as this is essential for getting access to most forms of financial aid and scholarships.
