What colleges accept a 3.7 GPA?

Hey fam, I'm a high school junior with a GPA of 3.7. I've been pondering on which colleges I can consider a 'match'. Are there any specific colleges known to be comfortable with a 3.7 GPA? I'd hate to waste an application fee for universities that are out of my league you know?

It's smart to consider your GPA with respect to the colleges you might apply to. A 3.7 GPA is considered a strong score by a majority of colleges and universities. However, the specifics will also depend on other factors within your application such as standardized test scores (if the college requires them), your extracurricular involvement, and the rigor of your high school coursework.

If you're aiming for more selective colleges, they require strong academic records, and a 3.7 GPA will be competitive, but success will depend on the other factors I just mentioned. For example, at selective schools like University of Southern California or University of Michigan, the average high school GPA of admitted students hovers around a 3.8. So, your 3.7 GPA would place you quite within the ball park for these schools.

If you're looking at less competitive public universities, your 3.7 GPA may actually place you towards the top of the applicant pool. Schools such as Arizona State or University of Kansas, have an average GPA of admitted students at 3.4-3.6 range, making your GPA above average.

That said, every college has a range of GPAs for admitted students, because the application review process is typically holistic, considering many areas of an application beyond just your GPA. Always remember to enrich your experiences and aspects of your application such as your essays and extracurriculars, as they can also significantly influence your chances of admittance.
