GPA Conversion Help Needed

Hi everyone, does anybody know how to convert a GPA of 85 into the 4.0 scale? Trying to get a realistic idea of where I stand right now, and this whole conversion thing has me a touch confused.

Hello! GPA conversion can indeed be a bit perplexing, but never fear, it's manageable once you grasp the method!

GPA scales may vary, but usually, in the U.S., an "A" (ranging between 90-100%) is equivalent to 4.0, a "B" (between 80-89%) is equated to 3.0 and so forth.

Given that your GPA is an 85, you'd be in the 'B' category, by most scales. Therefore, your GPA would be around 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. But keep in mind, this isn't a rigorous conversion, rather it's an approximate estimation. Your school's grading scale might be slightly different, so it could be worthwhile to confirm with a guidance counselor or registrar's office.

Also remember, colleges are aware of the differences in grading scales and usually review your application in the context of your school's particular grading system. So if your school uses the percentage system, they'll understand your scores in that context. They look at your GPA, your course rigor, and your class rank to understand your academic achievement in context.
