Hello! I'm currently a high school junior and I'm starting to think about college. I'm interested in staying close to Decatur, IL. Does anyone have any suggestions for good colleges in this area? I'm open to community colleges too.
If you're open to remaining in or near Decatur, you have a couple of good options.
1. Millikin University: This is a private, four-year institution located in Decatur itself. They're known for their strong programs in Nursing, Music and Business to name a few, and for their direct involvement in the community. Their "Performance Learning" model ensures that students get the practical experience, which is a plus for many employers.
2. Richland Community College: Once again based in Decatur, this is a two-year college offering a wide range of programs. If you're unsure of what course of study suits you best, starting at a community college might be a good idea. The financial burden is considerably less, and you have the opportunity to explore different courses and understand your interests better.
Keep in mind that your choice of school should depend on your field of interest and career aspirations. It can be helpful to reach out directly to the admissions offices at these colleges to gather more information, or to set up tours if that's feasible. Best of luck in your college search journey!
