Is there a difference in tuition for in-state vs out-of-state at Cornell?

I'm just curious, as a potential New York resident applicant to Cornell, if the tuition would be lower for me than for out-of-state applicants? Appreciate any info!

The answer is a bit more complicated than you might expect because it depends on your intended major and the school it is housed in within Cornell. Cornell is made up of nine undergraduate colleges, and three of them are "contract colleges".

Basically, what this means is that students who are residents of New York state who attend these three colleges — College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, College of Human Ecology, and School of Industrial and Labor Relations — are eligible for reduced tuition. So, since you are a New York resident, if you applied to one of these schools within Cornell, you would pay less than if you applied to the College of Engineering or College of Arts and Sciences, say.

So, while the answer is slightly more complex than just offering in-state tuition for New York residents, I hope this helps clear some things about Cornell up for you!
