What ASVAB scores are needed for different military branches?

Hey guys, if I do decide to go the military route, I know I need to take the ASVAB. Does anybody know exactly what scores I should aim for, depending on the branch? Any info would be much appreciated!

The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) score requirements can indeed vary between the branches of the U.S. military. Each branch sets its own minimum scores for both enlistment and specific job placements. Here are some general guidelines:

1. Army: The minimum AFQT (Armed Forces Qualification Test) score required for enlistment in the Army is 31. However, if you want to qualify for certain jobs or incentives, you may need a higher score.

2. Navy: The minimum AFQT required for enlistment in the Navy is 35. Note that for many of the Navy's more technical jobs, such as nuclear operator, a much higher ASVAB score is required.

3. Air Force: The Air Force requires a minimum AFQT of 36, but like the Navy, many jobs require higher scores.

4. Marines: The Marines require an AFQT score of at least 32. However, very few Marines are accepted with scores this low. Most recruits score at least a 50.

5. Coast Guard: The Coast Guard has the highest minimum score, with an AFQT score of at least 40 required for enlistment.

These are minimums for enlistment only – individual job classifications or military occupational specialties (MOS) often require higher scores in certain line scores (more specific measures based off your ASVAB performance). Remember: the higher you score on the ASVAB, the more career opportunities you have within the military. Also, these are the current minimums but they can change based on the needs of the service at any given time.
