Deployment Possibilities for Military Reserves

Hey, I'm currently looking into joining the military reserves post-high school. Not sure if anyone here can help, but could military reserves be deployed? I know being a reservist is different than being on active duty, but I'm really confused about the chances of seeing combat.

Yes, military reservists can indeed be deployed. Essentially, as a reservist, you serve as part of the Ready Reserve, which means you'll have the ability to step into active duty if it's deemed necessary by the military.

Your typical commitments as a reservist include monthly training drills and an annual training period, but you are subject to deployment in times of war or national emergencies declared by the president. In these instances, reservists can be called to active duty where seeing combat could be a possibility.

However, it's valuable to note that the nature and location of reserve deployments can greatly vary and are contingent upon several factors such as international affairs, the area of specialization, among others. If you're considering joining the reserves, it's advisable to engage in in-depth conversation with your recruiter about what you could possibly expect in terms of deployment, based on the job role you’re interested in. They might be able to provide more distinct insights into potential deployments for that specific role.

In summary, while typically reservists have less frequency of deployment than active-duty service members, the chance is not zero and should be something you factor into your decision.
