What opportunities does a 35 on the ACT open for me?

I just got my ACT results back and scored a 35 (super excited!). What kind of doors can this score open for me in terms of colleges and scholarships?

Congratulations on your great score! Earning a 35 on the ACT places you in the 99th percentile of all test-takers, which is quite an achievement.

In terms of colleges, this score makes you a very competitive applicant at even the most selective institutions, including Ivy League schools. However, remember that admission to these colleges involves an in-depth assessment of your entire application, such as your GPA, coursework, essays, extracurriculars, and letters of recommendation. However, a 35 should meet the Academic Index threshold for these schools, which is an important first step in the admission process.

For scholarships, a high ACT score like yours can certainly be beneficial. Many scholarships, in particular those offered by colleges themselves, often have a minimum ACT score requirement, and your 35 should surpass almost all of them. You may also be eligible for more significant merit-based aid at schools where your ACT score is above the average of admitted students.

Additionally, your high score can make you a competitive applicant for many prestigious, nationally recognized scholarships, such as the Coca Cola Scholars Program or the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation Scholars Program, among others.

Lastly, keep in mind that colleges and scholarships alike aren't solely looking for high test scores. They're looking for students who've shown dedication, passion, and leadership in their endeavors, whether that be academic or extra-curricular. So continue to excel in the areas of your interests and maintain a solid academic performance, and this score will be a potent tool in your admissions arsenal.

Good luck with your future applications!
