The University of Florida is located in Gainesville, Florida. Gainesville is in the Northern part of the state and is often referred to as North Central Florida. It's pretty far from Florida's big cities like Miami and Orlando, but it's fairly close to both the east and west coasts of the state, giving students plenty of options for beaches and other outdoor activities. It also has a pretty lively downtown area with plenty of dining and entertainment options. All these features make it a good college town.
