Opinions on Madison, NJ colleges?

Can't shake the feeling that Madison, New Jersey might be the place for me. Does anyone have stories or opinions about the local colleges—whether around campus life, academic rigor or the surrounding areas?

Madison, New Jersey, often referred to as "the Rose City," does indeed have a serene, small-town feel which a lot of students find appealing. It's home to two colleges: Fairleigh Dickinson University and Drew University.

Starting with Fairleigh Dickinson University—it's known for a strong emphasis on global learning. The university's Florham Campus in Madison is designed in the style of an Italian villa, providing students with a unique setting. FDU offers a vast range of majors and programs, from liberal arts to sciences, which enables students to explore and find what suits them best. Campus life here is vibrant with over 100 clubs and organizations.

Moving on to Drew University—it's a small liberal arts university known for programs like political science, theatre arts, business, and biology. Known for its intimate and inclusive community, this liberal arts-focused institution places a heavy emphasis on research, critical thinking, and experiential learning. The school's semester on Wall Street, United Nations semester, and NYC semesters in communications and media, theatre, contemporary art, and social entrepreneurship provide unique opportunities for real-life experiences in different fields.

Both colleges are nestled in beautiful Madison which offers a safe environment with quick access to urban amenities, given that New York City is just a short train ride away. This offers students a balance between serene campus life and bustling city experiences. The downtown area of Madison itself has plenty of shops, restaurants, and resources which cater to college students.

It's worth noting though that each person's college experience is subjective, and it is crucial to visit the campuses, speak with current students and faculty, and get a feel for the community yourself. There's no better way to know if a college is the right fit for you than by seeing how you personally feel in the environment.
