Help in Calculating GPA at University of Oregon

Hey all! I was just wondering if anyone knows how to calculate GPA at the University of Oregon (UO)? I've heard different universities have different ways to calculate it. Any thoughts or advice on this?

Absolutely, happy to help! At the University of Oregon, they calculate GPA by using a scale of 4.0 for an A, with other letter grades scaled down in increments of 0.3 typically. Here's a basic breakdown of how the standard grades correspond to GPA values:

- "A" corresponds to a 4.0

- "A-" corresponds to a 3.7

- "B+" corresponds to a 3.3

- "B" corresponds to a 3.0

- "B-" corresponds to a 2.7

- "C+" corresponds to a 2.3

- "C" corresponds to a 2.0

- "C-" corresponds to a 1.7

- "D+" corresponds to a 1.3

- "D" corresponds to a 1.0

- "F" corresponds to a 0

For each individual course, you multiply the number of credit hours by the GPA value associated with your grade. For example, if you got a B (3.0 GPA value) in a 4 credit hour course, you would get 12 GPA points for that course. Add up all the GPA points for the courses you've taken, then divide by the total number of credit hours you've completed. That will give you your cumulative GPA!

Keep in mind that plus and minus grades do matter—so an A-, for instance, has a lower GPA value than an A. Certain courses might not be included in your GPA calculation if you've chosen pass/no pass grading, so always double check with an academic adviser if you're unsure about a particular case.
