FAU vs UF: Which is better?

Sup everyone? I got acceptances from both Florida Atlantic University (FAU) and University of Florida (UF). Can't make up my mind as both seem good. Anyone who has been to either, or hell, both, mind giving me their two cents? Would appreciate any thoughts on student life, academics, and overall experience.

Congrats on your acceptances to both FAU and UF! Both schools indeed offer excellent opportunities, but there are some differences to consider.

Academically, UF generally has a higher ranking and is known for its prestigious programs across a variety of disciplines, both in the humanities and STEM fields. It's also a member of the Association of American Universities, which signifies a strong commitment to research.

FAU, on the other hand, has some top-notch programs and provides a supportive academic experience, particularly known for its strengths in business, nursing, and education. It was recently named an R1 research institute, which is the highest level of recognition and means the university is seriously committed to research. It's more commuter-focused than UF, meaning many students live off-campus and commute to school, which can shape elements of the college experience.

When it comes to student life, UF's campus in Gainesville is larger with a considerable student body, which often translates to a more active campus with a wider variety of student clubs, sports, and activities. You'll likely find a vibrant campus life with strong school spirit, especially around Gator sports!

FAU's main campus in Boca Raton is smaller, which might mean smaller class sizes and more personalized attention. It's close to beaches and the city's entertainment, so, if you're interested in that, this environment could be a great fit for you.

Ideally, you should consider what's most important to you in your college experience - whether it is academic rigor, opportunities for research, the size of the school, location, social aspects, etc., as these will help you make the best decision for your circumstances. And of course, if you haven't done so already, try to visit both campuses (even virtually) to get a better feel for the atmosphere and fit.
