What's a good GPA for Michigan State?

After a lot of thought, I think I want to apply to Michigan State University. Does anyone know what the average GPA of admitted students is? I want to assess my chances and work on improving if necessary.

Michigan State University typically looks for applicants with a GPA of 3.8 and above, which falls into the range of a B+ average. This GPA is based on the 4.0 scale and is a rough estimate, not an exact threshold. The university does review applications holistically, meaning they consider factors beyond just your GPA, such as your extracurricular involvement, leadership roles, and other academic achievements. However, a strong GPA could indeed strengthen your overall application.

Remember, the average means that some students were admitted with GPAs below 3.8 and others with GPAs higher than that figure. If your GPA is below 3.8, it certainly doesn't mean that admission is impossible, it might just mean that you'll need to compensate with other parts of your application. If you're currently below this average, working to improve your GPA is a great step.

Don't forget to also focus on other parts of your application such as your SAT/ACT scores (unless you're applying test-optional), extracurriculars showing leadership or commitment to a certain area (following the 4 Tiers of Extracurriculars is a good guideline), and your essays. A well-rounded application can help you stand out!
