Are there colleges with strong modeling programs?

This might sound kinda off-beat, but I'm pretty set on pursuing a career in modeling post-high school, but I also value a good education. Are there universities or schools that have strong programs or connections to the modeling industry? Thanks guys, much appreciated!

Absolutely, you're exploring a path that actually has a lot of options in terms of higher education. Many well-regarded universities offer degrees or concentrations in fashion or arts, and these programs could be valuable for someone interested in the modeling industry.

Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City is renowned for its fashion programs and sits in a major hub for the modeling industry, offering a well-connected faculty and alumni network that could help you with your career aspirations.

Parsons School of Design, also in New York City, offers degrees in Fashion Design and has a reputation of churning out talented designers, many of whom have gone on to work in high-end fashion industries, an area that works closely with models.

The University of Southern California (USC) offers a degree in Business - cinematic arts which delves into marketing and media industries. This could potentially offer opportunities and connections in the modeling industry as well as provide you with a good educational foundation in related fields.

Finally, several schools like New York University or University of California, Los Angeles may not have specific modeling programs, but are located in industry hubs (NYC and LA), offering you the opportunity to network and find internships within the industry while also getting a broader education.

Remember, pursuing a college education while embarking on a modeling career can give you a wide array of options. It's not just about learning how to strut on a catwalk; understanding the business aspects of the industry, such as marketing, brand management, or digital media, can offer a strong foundation that can keep you in the industry even when your modeling career ends.

However, keep in mind that breaking into the modeling industry often involves more than just having a degree. It's important to build a strong portfolio, actively network within the industry, and ideally have representation from a reputable modeling agency. Be prepared to invest time and effort into these areas in addition to your academic commitments.

Best of luck with your future career endeavors!
