What does Univ of Dallas have to offer?

I'm curious about Univ of Dallas. Can students or alumni share their experiences? How are the academics? How is campus life? How good are the job/internship opportunities post graduation? Just looking for some genuine input on this.

Responding as a college admissions counselor, I want to stress that my answer will be based on general observations and data, as I am not personally an alumnus of Univ of Dallas.

The University of Dallas, a private Catholic university primarily known for its programs in the liberal arts, has a reputation for rigorous academics. The school is perhaps best known for its Core Curriculum, an array of courses spanning philosophy, literature, politics, and theology that all students are required to complete. This broad and thorough foundation in the humanities is often cited as a strength of the university's academic offerings, but University of Dallas also mentioned having strong programs in business and economics.

In terms of student life, the campus is located within the city of Irving, which is part of the greater Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. This offers students ample opportunity for cultural experiences, outings, internships, and job opportunities. However, the campus itself has a very traditional feel, conducive to quiet study and reflection. There are also plenty of student clubs and activities, particularly those with a religious focus, given the university's Catholic nature.

As for job and internship opportunities, while the university doesn't have the same reputation as a large research university or Ivy League institution, its graduates do fare well. According to the University's Career Center's data, close to 90% of graduates from the most recent year are either working or in grad school within six months of graduation. The university also provides resources to support students in their job search or graduate school applications, including career counseling and on-campus job fairs.

Keep in mind that this is a private, Catholic institution, and its religious affiliation permeates many aspects of campus life, from the Core Curriculum to the student organizations. If you're not comfortable in this kind of environment it may not be the right fit for you, but if it aligns with your values and interests, Univ of Dallas can offer a strong grounding in liberal arts education, a close-knit community, and connections to the robust job market of the Dallas metro area.
