Hey everyone! As we're all in the phase of planning our future, I've been thinking about enlisting in the military. I'm a history buff and it'd be really interesting to know, just for trivia's sake, which was the first branch of the US military to get established?
The first branch of the U.S. military to be established was the United States Army. This took place on June 14, 1775, around a year before the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The Continental Congress established the army in order to coordinate the military efforts of the Thirteen Colonies in their revolt against the rule of Great Britain. Fun fact: the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Marine Corps were both founded later the same year, in October and November respectively. The Army, Navy, and Marine Corps are the oldest branches of the U.S. military, predating the country's founding.
