Understanding UA's GPA Scale

Hey guys, I've been rummaging through the web for this, but it's kinda confusing. What's the GPA scale at University of Alabama? Is it on a 4.0 scale or something else?

While the exact GPA scale can vary slightly between different colleges, the University of Alabama, similar to many other colleges in the US, generally uses a traditional 4.0 scale to calculate GPA. This means that an A is generally considered a 4.0, a B is a 3.0, a C is a 2.0, and a D is a 1.0. Of course, this gets a little more nuanced when you start considering plus/minus grades, which are included in UA's grading system as well and can shift these numbers slightly.

To provide an example, in many cases, the values assigned to plus/minus grades might look something like this:

- A+: 4.0

- A: 4.0

- A-: 3.7

- B+: 3.3

- B: 3.0

- B-: 2.7

- C+: 2.3

- C: 2.0

- C-: 1.7

- D+: 1.3

- D: 1.0

- D-: 0.7

- F: 0.0

Keep in mind, however, that these exact values can sometimes change depending on the grading policies of a particular institution. It's certainly worth speaking with an admissions counselor or academic advisor at UA for the most accurate and specific information related to their grading scale and policies.
