GPA calculation for the University of Arizona?

Hey everyone, I'm currently a junior and really interested in applying to the University of Arizona. I'd like to understand how they calculate GPA, especially with regard to weighted versus unweighted courses. Does anyone know how I could find specific information about this or if there's a GPA calculator provided by the University itself?

The University of Arizona uses a 4.0 scale to calculate your GPA and it typically considers courses from 9th grade to the end of Junior year (11th grade).

The University does consider both weighted and unweighted GPA. For weighted GPA, usually honors and AP classes are given a weight; for example, an A in an honors or AP class might be worth 5.0 points instead of 4.0. However, keep in mind that not all schools weight grades in the same way. You should check with your school's guidance office to understand how your school handles the weighting of grades.

There is no specific GPA calculator provided by the University of Arizona itself, but generally, you'd place the numerical value (4 for A, 3 for B, etc.) for each of your grades in the courses as per the weighting assigned at your school, and take an average to get your GPA.

Remember, while GPA is important, it's just one component of your application. Other elements like your SAT/ACT scores, extracurricular activities, essays, and letters of recommendation are also crucial in the admissions process.
