Can anyone help figure out GPA for Ole Miss?

Hey everyone. So, I've been comparing colleges and Ole Miss is high on my list. I'm anxious about my GPA though. Is there an easy way or a tool online to calculate what my GPA would be by their standards?

Sure, happy to help. Ole Miss, like most other American Universities, uses a 4.0 grading scale in which an A is equivalent to 4 points, a B is equivalent to 3 points, a C is equivalent to 2 points, and a D is equivalent to 1 point. An F is 0 points. If you received an A-, B+, B-, etc., the equivalent points are usually 3.7, 3.3, 2.7, etc., respectively.

To calculate your GPA, you would weight each class you've taken by its respective credit hours, and then average all of your classes together. Here's an example:

If you took 5 classes and got A (4.0), B (3.0), B (3.0), A- (3.7), and B+ (3.3), you would take the sum of those (4 + 3 + 3 + 3.7 + 3.3 = 17), and divide by the total number of classes (5) for a GPA of 3.4.

Keep in mind, if your classes have different credit hours, you would need to account for this. For example, if you got an A in a 4 credit hour class, you'd multiply 4 (the grade) by 4 (the credit hours) for a total of 16. If you got a B in a 3 credit hour class, you'd multiply 3 (the grade) by 3 (the credit hours) for a total of 9, and so on. Then, add all of these together and divide by the total number of credit hours.

Lastly, it's important to note that Ole Miss doesn't count +'s or -'s — so an A- (3.7 in many high schools) is a full 4.0 at Ole Miss as is an A.

This is just a basic guideline, though. If your school uses a different grading scale or if you've taken advanced classes that are weighted differently like Honors, IB, or AP, your GPA calculation might vary. Always check with your school or the college itself to understand how they calculate GPAs!
