What is the most dangerous military branch?

Hey everybody, I'm a junior seriously considering military service after high school. While researching, I came across a few mentions of certain branches being particularly dangerous. Anyone have insights on which is considered the most dangerous military branch?

While it's commendable that you're considering military service, it's important to note that the concept of 'most dangerous' is relative and can differ based on various factors such as the specific role, training, deployment location, and even luck.

That being said, traditionally, many consider the Marine Corps and the Army to be the branches with arguably the most risk due to their ground combat roles. The Marine Corps is often involved in the initial assault of conflicts which can lead to potentially more dangerous confrontations, while the Army also serves on the front lines and has a high number of combat MOS (military occupational specialty) roles.

However, it is worth noting that even within branches, danger levels can greatly vary depending on your specific job assignment. For instance, a military police officer or a motor vehicle operator could face more risks than an administrative specialist, despite them all belonging to the same branch.

Finally, keep in mind that the military is not just about fighting and each branch offers a myriad of career choices across multiple fields. It's really about the fit, the culture, and where you see yourself making a difference. If you're unsure, you might benefit from speaking with a recruiter from each branch or individuals in your network who previously served. Not only can they provide more inside information about the daily life and risks associated with each branch, but they can also help guide you towards a role that suits your skills and interests.
