What are the GPA Requirements for CSULB?

Hey community, current high school junior here. I'm seriously considering CSULB for my undergrad studies and I'm super stressed about my GPA. Does anyone know what the GPA requirement is for admission? How competitive is it? I would really appreciate anyone's insight on this!

Well, you've already taken the right step by researching in advance!

California State University Long Beach has a minimum GPA requirement of 3.0 for both California residents and out-of-state applicants. But don't let the word "minimum" fool you. CSULB is a pretty competitive school and the admitted students usually have a higher GPA than the minimum requirement.

On average, admitted students have a GPA of around 3.4. This means that if you're aiming for CSULB, you should be aiming to have a GPA that's at or above this averages to boost your chances.

Remember, while your GPA is important, college admissions teams also consider other parts of your application, including your high school coursework, extracurricular activities, and essays. So while it's great that you're keeping a keen eye on GPA, don't forget to balance your time and energy between these different areas.

Although it's good for you to know these numbers, it's essential not to get too caught up in them. There's much more to you than a number on a scale of 4!

I hope this clears up any mystery about the GPA requirements at CSULB! Keep working hard, and remember, the college application process is about finding the best fit for you, rather than fitting yourself into a school. Good luck!
