WSU GPA requirements - is it too high for me?

Washington State University is one of my dream schools but I'm honestly a bit sure if I fall into their GPA requirements. How rigid are they about this? Do they consider weighted GPA? And do different programs have different GPA requirements? Thanks!

Washington State University (WSU) generally seeks students with a GPA of 2.7 or higher. This applies for both in-state and out-of-state applicants. An applicant with a GPA below 2.0 will be considered for admission only under extraordinary circumstances, so it's good to aim for a strong GPA to increase your chances.

WSU does consider both unweighted and weighted GPAs. So, if you've taken AP or IB classes, these will give a boost to your weighted GPA, telling admissions that you're challenging yourself with rigorous courses. This can potentially offset a lower unweighted GPA.

Regarding different GPA requirements for various programs, it's essential to know that some majors at WSU, especially those in competitive areas like engineering or nursing, may have higher GPA requirements for declaration. If you're specifically interested in these majors, reaching out to WSU directly or exploring their website for specific program GPA requirements would be helpful.

Remember, while GPA is an important element of your application, WSU reviews applications holistically. They'll also be looking at factors like your extracurricular involvement, essay, and potentially, your letters of recommendation. So even if you're worried about your GPA, it's worth applying if the school is a good fit for your goals! Just make sure your application strongly represents your abilities and potential.
