USC In-State Tuition - Any Tips or Info?

Hey y'all! I'm seriously considering USC and want to know more about their in-state tuition. Is there a significant difference from the out-of-state tuition? Any tips on how I might qualify for the in-state fees?

The University of Southern California (USC) has a flat-rate tuition policy, meaning that tuition costs are the same for all full-time undergraduate students regardless of their state of residence. There isn't a separate rate for in-state and out-of-state students, so you won't be able to qualify for in-state fees as is the case with some public universities.

USC is a private university, and typically, private universities do not offer lower tuitions for in-state residents, unlike public universities which are funded in part by state tax dollars and often offer discounted rates to in-state residents. At USC, the tuition for the 2024-2025 academic year is approx. $69,904 not including room, board, and other fees.

That being said, there are several ways to aid the cost of tuition at USC. The university offers a variety of scholarships for both academic merit and need-based aid, and just under two-thirds of students receive some form of financial aid. If you're looking to reduce your costs, your best bet is to apply for financial aid and seek out scholarships, both from the university and external sources. You can also consider participating in work-study programs to cover some of your expenses.
